Hey y’all! It’s been a minute, but I’m still here! A lot has been going on and I feel like I’ve been a little busier than usual.
The biggest thing going on is our planning a beach trip. So exciting! I cannot wait to take Jase on his very first trip to Panama City!! Aah! My absolute favorite beach EVER. My family visited PCB every summer when I was younger, up until my early twenties. I know that place like the back of my hand. There’s nothing better than going there time and time again and reliving all of those memories!
A little bit of background on the planning: y’all know I’m frugal. I like that word better than ‘cheap.’ 😂 After looking for a week or two, I found a beachfront condo at less than 750 bucks for 5 nights! I use vrbo.com to find vacation rentals. If you’re not familiar, that is a site to rent from the condo owner, not the condo itself. This tends to be less expensive.
If you rent through VRBO, they charge a processing fee. So my advice is to contact the owner directly! Of course I had to pay a deposit upfront- one night’s stay plus tax. The best part is that they allow payments so instead of having the remainder withdrawn right before we go, my intent is to have it paid for long before.
Here’s how I pay for our trips…and it doesn’t involve a single credit card. Y’all are all familiar with those selling pages on Facebook. I’m a member of every page within a 30 mile radius. I go through my house and take pictures of every. single. thing. that we don’t use anymore that might bring in a decent amount of money. I sell, sell, sell until the housing accommodations are paid for. Sometimes I continue to sell until I have a decent supply of cash for activities as well as food. I have done this successfully two times recently: I have paid cash for a trip to Chattanooga as well as Gatlinburg. It’s great! I even told a friend at work about it and she acted like she couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
While I don’t necessarily intend of paying cash for everything we do for 5 days at the beach, I fully intend on having our room paid for in the next 2 weeks, and I intend to have enough cash set aside for our first night’s grocery store trip.
So, there’s my advice for the day. It works y’all. All it takes is a little bit of effort to take some pictures and a little bit of time to post the photos. All that’s left is to make that money!
I’m counting down the days (85) and every day Jase says he wants to go to the beach. To say we’re excited is an understatement! I’ll update later on my progress of paying for the condo.
